Commission on Election 11 (Comelec 11) Assistant Regional Election Director lawyer Gay Enumerables on Thursday dismissed claims that voter’s signature for the Voter’s Information Sheet (VIS) acknowledgment receipt will be used for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
This after some voters refused to receive the VIS for fear of using their signatures for the impeachment case.
“In some other regions mao na ang report na among nadunggan naa daw dili gusto mupirma sa katong acknowledgment receipt namo na nagpamatuod nga na deliver na gyud na VIS sa botante. Mga tao man gud paranoid. They thought na kung papirmahon ka didto ug papel para daw to sa petition yung impeachment, of which, dili naman. Basta kung sa Comelec katong sa VIS to. Among ginapasabot karon ang mga botante na sa VIS to,” Enumerables said.
The VIS is a four-page document containing vital information for voters, such as the location of their voting precinct, instructions on how to use vote-counting machines, and a list of candidates.
“Kani siya very important because didto makita nimo kung asa ka na presinto muboto, asa na eskwelahan, ug asa ka na barangay na belong, ug makadawat gyud ka ani kung naa ka sa among listahan. Meaning to say makaboto gyud ka this coming May 12 kay nakadawat man ka ug VIS,” Enumerables said.
Enumerables said that the distribution of VIS has started in other regions but not yet in Davao Region.
“But for Davao City I do not know kung naka start na na sila karon but didto sa Manila karon ang start nila sa distribution sa VIS. Sa Davao City naga sorting pa at the moment,” she said.
Enumerables appealed to the voters to receive the VIS once the distribution starts.
“Mao na karon ang atong election officers nag notice sila sa ilahang mga Facebook pages na mag distribute na ug VIS unya please i-receive ang VIS and of course kung naay papirmahan didto, pirmahan lang kasi proof na siya na na-receive nila and at the same time yun ang gamiton para pagsuweldo sa mga nagdeliver nga gi-hire sa Comelec,” she said.
Enumerables said Comelec is only given 20 days maximum for the delivery of VIS to the voters.
