District 2 of Davao de Oro joins the Journey for Peace

Noe “Butchoy” Taojo

Supporters of District 2 in Davao de Oro came out in full force this week to rally behind Team Biyaheng Kalinaw, which held a series of major events across several municipalities in the province.

Led by Noe “Butchoy” Taojo, who is running for Congress in District 2, alongside Cong. Peter Ruwel Gonzaga and Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, Team Biyaheng Kalinaw drew thousands of residents in Maco, Mawab, Nabunturan, and Mabini.

In Nabunturan alone, around 30,000 residents gathered for the proclamation rally, where the group presented their platform focused on peace, progress, and genuine service. In Maco, another 20,000 locals came out to hear the messages of unity and hope from the team’s leaders.

As Taojo delivered his speech, the crowd erupted in continuous cheers, showing their overwhelming support for his candidacy. Governor Gonzaga also expressed her gratitude to Taojo for his significant help during the Masara landslide, where his company donated millions to help build homes for affected families.

“I am deeply thankful to Noe ‘Butchoy’ Taojo and his family for their generous support, even before he entered politics,” said Gov. Gonzaga.

In Mabini, an estimated 20,000 residents also flocked to the rally—a clear sign that the people are yearning for peace and change in their municipality.

Taojo emphasized that the most important voice in the upcoming election belongs to the people, not to him or any candidate he supports. “This is not about me or anyone I endorse. The power to choose leaders lies with the people,” he said.

He also addressed questions that arose after his recent appearance at the proclamation rally of another local team last week, clarifying that his attendance was simply a gesture of respect toward his close friend, Mayor Nelson “Tata” Sala of Sta. Cruz, and should not be interpreted as support for that group.

In Mawab, more than 20,000 people once again gathered to show their support for Team Biyaheng Kalinaw, affirming the group’s mission to bring unity and peace to the province.

“You answered our call to join the Journey for Peace and Unity. Last night’s gathering was a powerful show of love and support, and I truly felt it,” said Taojo.

He thanked the municipality for the warm welcome and pledged to represent the district with sincerity and dedication.

“Thank you for trusting one of your own, a former frontliner, to represent our district in Congress. With your trust and prayers, we will reach for a better future and deliver genuine, inclusive service—For the People, For Everyone.”
