Former President Rodrigo Duterte is aware of Vice President Sara Duterte’s endorsement of reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos but has remained tight-lipped on the issue, according to Honeylet Avanceña, the former president’s common-law partner.
“He is aware, but he has not commented,” Avanceña told the media on Saturday at The Hague, Netherlands.
The vice president and Senator Marcos appeared in a 30-second political advertisement titled “ITIM,” which stands for Inday Trusts Imee Marcos. According to the advertisement, black symbolizes the current state of the country, mourning over hunger, criminality, and a lack of justice.
The vice president has not yet issued a statement regarding the political advertisement.
Meanwhile, Avanceña shared that during her and her daughter Kitty Duterte’s visit to the former president at the detention facility of the International Criminal Court (ICC), his health condition remained stable and well.
When asked if the former president could return to the Philippines, Avanceña expressed full confidence that a higher power would make it possible.
“God will make a way. This is the work of man, but the work of God cannot be opposed by man. No one can reverse it. Even the devil acknowledges that there is Jesus Christ,” she said.
She added that the former president expressed gratitude to his supporters and called on them to continue the fight.
The former president is currently detained at the ICC, awaiting trial for alleged crimes against humanity in connection with his administration’s war on drugs.
