Mindanao-based media company Mindanao Network News (MNN) will put positive stories of Mindanao in the spotlight.
The MNN is a 24/7 travel, business, and lifestyle multimedia broadcast network designed to present the stories in and about Mindanao from the past to the present.
Unveiled on December 2, 2024, at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), MNN is being considered a historic milestone in the Philippine media, presenting life and living in Mindanao to audiences across the country and the whole world.
“Now we can focus on sharing the great untold stories of Mindanao to Mindanaoans, to Filipinos all over the world, and to all races in the globe,” said Carl L. Magno, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mindanow Network, during Wednesdays Habi at Kape media forum.
Magno said all the stories will emanate from the wires of MNN’s partners, the Philippine News Agency (PNA), and field monitoring updates from the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).
The network will feature segments such as From the Wires (good news and updates in Mindanao via PNA and MinDA), Mindanao Happenings (special events in Mindanao), Local Catch (from the cellphones of local contributors), Mindanao Calendar (posted by different LGUs and NGOs), and My Hero (heroic acts performed by ordinary people).
Magno said MNN will initially be a half-hour weekly show that premiers every Saturday and re-broadcast every day from Sunday to Friday starting July this year.
Magno said the platform is the first of its kind: a 24/7 multimedia broadcast network devoted entirely to Mindanao, blending travel, culture, lifestyle, and business with an unmistakable local flavor.
He said viewers can access MNN via IBC 13, Sky Direct, Converge, Roku, and major digital platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
Magno expressed optimism that the show will help boost the image of Mindanao amid negative travel advisories.
“After we launched last year, the government of Japan lifted the negative travel advisory, the European Union as well lifted the negative travel advisory in Mindanao. Now they are beginning to see, what’s happening now. We are progressive, we are peaceful and we’re moving forward at a faster rate now,” he said.
