Sara says she believes midterm, 2028 polls behind the arrest of FPRRD

Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday expressed her firm belief that the midterm and the 2028 presidential elections are the reasons behind the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Tungod sa midterm elections ug tungod sa 2028 elections. Wala man lain rason that they will kidnap, kuha or dukot sa atoang dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte dinhi sa atoang nasud ug dad-on nila didto sa laing nasud unya ipakulong sa mga dayuhan kundi kana lang gyud, ang muabot na election tungod kay nagka kusog ug kusog kaayo ang opposition ug sa 2028 elections. Sa mga dili gusto munaog ug gusto mukapot sa ilahang power or gahum dinha sa ilang katungdanan,” the vice president told the media in Cebu City.

The vice president led a campaign rally in Cebu for local candidates, including Cebu gubernatorial aspirant Pam Baricuatro.

She and her siblings are fully committed to campaigning for the senatorial candidates of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the political party of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD). According to the vice president, FPRRD urged her in a phone call to campaign passionately for the #Duter10.

Last week, the vice president revealed that Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, the youngest daughter of the former president, will also join campaign sorties. Kitty’s participation aims to rally voters to support the 10 senatorial aspirants allied with their family, as the political clan intensifies efforts to expand their voter base with just three weeks remaining before the 2025 midterm elections.

Meanwhile, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, currently in The Hague, announced he would soon return home to join the campaign.
