The city government of Davao is bolstering its disaster response service with the ceremonial turnover and blessing of its newly-procured assets on Wednesday.
A total of 22 vehicles and essential rescue equipment were turned over to the disaster and emergency response cluster.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) received a rubber boat equipment; a ram jack; an engine duo pump; a life detector device; a spreader; a blue hydraulic hose; an orange hydraulic hose; a double hose reel core; a V struts; a mobile high-pressure compressor; 120 pieces of rescue helmets with headlamp; two units of fiberglass multipurpose ladder; and two units of portable power station.
Four units of emergency response vehicles (pick-up type) were turned over to the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and four units of fire trucks and one unit of incident command vehicle for the Bureau of Fire Protection – Davao City Fire District.
CDRRMO head Alfredo D. Baloran said that the firetrucks will be distributed to different fire stations within Davao City.
A pick-up truck and a patient transport vehicle were turned over to the Coast Guard Station Davao, six units of mobile emergency vehicles and two pick-up vehicles for Task Force Davao (TFD), while the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAgrO) received two units farm tractors.
The 22 newly acquired disaster and emergency response vehicles and equipment are undergoing further inspection, commissioning procedures, and ongoing payment processes before they are officially deployed for operational use.
According to the city government of Davao, these essential resources will soon serve Dabawenyos in times of emergency, development, and disaster response.
“Kini nga equipment augmentation ni siya sa atong mga existing na equipment kay kailangan nato i-enhance ang atong capabilities during responses in times of disasters,” Baloran said.
In December last year, the city government also turned over 38 disaster and emergency response vehicles sourced from the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Fund and the Annual Development Fund.
