The Commission on Election 11 (Comelec 11) and the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division officially activated the Election Duty Battalion (EDBn) on Monday in preparation for the upcoming 2025 national and local elections (NLE).
The activation ceremony was led by lawyer Gay Enumerables, Assistant Regional Director of Comelec 11, and Major General Allan Hambala, 10th ID commander.
The EDBn, which is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Ricky Dioneda, is tasked to ensure the safe, secure, fair, and free conduct of the 2025 national and local elections on May 12, 2025, within the 10th ID’s joint operational area.
The EDBn comprises of four companies and one reserved platoon of officers and enlisted personnel from the 10th ID.
“Your mission is not just to safeguard the ballot, but to protect the very principle that underpins our democratic system: the people’s right to choose freely and without fear,” Hambala told the EDBn.
Enumerables reaffirmed Comelec 11’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Sama-sama nating harapin ang mga hamon ng parating na halalan. Matatag, matapat, at may malasakit para sa bayan,” she said.
Comelec 11 has earlier conducted a one-day seminar for EDBn personnel to provide them with the necessary knowledge and understanding for their election duties.
