Davao Light and Power Company (Davao Light) announced on Thursday that its overall residential electricity rate dropped by P0.4461 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this month, bringing the rate down to P9.1053/kWh from P9.5514/kWh last month.
This rate applies to the billing period of May 12 to June 10, 2025.
According to Davao Light, the adjustment is due to lower power supply prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) in Mindanao, where the electric utility company sources part of its power requirement.
WESM is a trading venue in the Philippines where electricity is bought and sold as a commodity.
In April 2025, Davao Light increased its overall residential electricity rate by P0.9492 per kWh from P8.6022/kWh to P9.5514/kWh. This rate adjustment applies to bills received from April 11 to May 11, 2025.
Davao Light stated that the increase last month was attributed to higher power supply prices from WESM.
Despite the decrease in rate, Davao Light still encourages customers to mindfully use electricity to avoid high electricity bills, especially since the warm and dry season is not yet over.
