The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) declared the recently concluded 2025 national and local midterm elections in Davao City generally peaceful and successful.
DCPO acting City Director Col. Hansel Marantan said this is because of the unified security and cooperation of the public.
Marantan shared that in the days leading up to the elections, DCPO, together with the security and safety partners, ensured full operational readiness to protect the sanctity of the electoral process.
He said police personnel were strategically deployed across the city to secure all 266 polling centers and guarantee the smooth and orderly flow of election activities.
“The elections concluded without any election-related incidents (ERIs), and no areas of concern were reported throughout the voting period,” he said.
Marantan highlighted that DCPO’s achievement stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication, coordination, and sacrifice of the entire security and safety cluster—including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Philippine Coast Guard, emergency response units, force multipliers, and various volunteer groups.
“The unified commitment of these agencies, working hand-in-hand, was instrumental in preserving peace and public order throughout the electoral process,” he said.
Marantan also extended appreciation to the Dabawenyos for being disciplined, cooperative, and respectful of the law, which contributed to the success of the elections.
“Your adherence to safety protocols and vigilance against election irregularities demonstrated our collective resolve to uphold honest, orderly, and peaceful elections,” he said.
Marantan also lauded all the uniformed personnel and every individual working behind the scenes for their tireless service, long hours, and unwavering dedication.
“Your sacrifices ensured that democracy prevailed. Together, we have once again proven that through unity, professionalism, and shared responsibility, Davao City remains a model of credible and peaceful elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete announced that the casting of votes across the Davao Region was successfully carried out, despite minor setbacks, including technical issues involving a few automated voting machines.
“While isolated incidents of suspected election-related violence and reports of vote-buying were received, these did not significantly affect the overall conduct and integrity of the electoral process. All polling precincts remained fully operational throughout the entire voting period, ensuring that voters were able to exercise their right to vote without major disruptions,” he said.
Rosete added that PRO 11 was in close coordination with the Comelec and other partner agencies to ensure continued peace and order throughout the post-election period.
