The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is preparing for the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL) party’s Miting de Avance, set to take place this Friday at the rotunda along C. Bangoy Street and Roxas Avenue in Davao City.

The event is expected to draw a large crowd as Dabawenyos gather to show their support for former President Rodrigo Duterte and his slate of candidates.

DCPO spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon told Edge Davao that security measures are fully in place, with 262 police personnel deployed to ensure tight security during the event.

“Everything is set. As for crowd estimates, the event organizers have not provided any official figures,” she said.

Tuazon noted that, in addition to DCPO officers, personnel from other security clusters will also be deployed.

Authorities will enforce strict dos and don’ts, including a ban on bags and sharp objects during the Miting de Avance.

Candidates are also expected to comply with established policies and guidelines.

The HTL Miting de Avance will be led by Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, alongside Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte’s sons, Omar and Rodrigo “Rigo” II. Also in attendance will be HTL’s City Council candidates from the three districts of the city and the “DuterTen” team of PDP Laban.

Meanwhile, Tuazon announced that the DCPO will deploy 2,700 police officers for the May 12 polls, including 534 PNP personnel assigned to secure 266 polling centers.

As of Wednesday, Tuazon confirmed that no election-related incidents have been recorded in Davao City, and no areas of concern have been identified.

“This is what the DCPO continuously prays for—that we maintain Davao City’s discipline and order, ensuring a smooth and incident-free election before, during, and after polling day.”
