Vice President Sara Duterte stated on Saturday that she has no information regarding the alleged planned raid on the residence of former President Rodrigo Duterte. However, she remarked that she wouldn’t be surprised, given the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been involved in partisan politics.
“I have no information about the raid, but if there is one, I wouldn’t be surprised because we’ve seen how the police engage in partisan political activity,” the vice president said.
On Friday, Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete dismissed reports circulating online about an alleged search operation at the former president’s residence in Doña Luisa Subdivision, Ecoland, Davao City by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), calling them “fake news.”
Rosete stated that both the Special Action Force (SAF) and the CIDG have denied the reports, asserting that they have no planned operations in Davao City.
The vice president emphasized that in the context of impeachment, there is ample evidence—including photos, witnesses, and supporting documents—that the PNP is being used as a political tool.
She also likened the situation to the raid conducted on the residence of former House member Arnie Teves.
“So I wouldn’t be surprised. They might conduct a raid, plant evidence—after all, we’ve seen them use the ‘Arnie Teves model’ before. They raided him, planted evidence. Fortunately, Arnie had a hidden CCTV camera that exposed their wrongdoing,” she said.
Meanwhile, following his statement criticizing the PNP-CIDG and describing their actions as harassment toward the Duterte family, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte said they would not resist a raid as long as it is conducted legally.
“Let them raid if they want. Go ahead, it’s fine, as long as they act within the law,” he stated.
PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo reiterated that CIDG Chief Major General Nicolas Torre III confirmed that the CIDG has no operations in Davao City, dismissing Representative Duterte’s allegations as baseless.
