Suspects of the large illegal drug haul in Davao City are still at large according to the regional office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI 11).
On Sunday, NBI 11 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 (PDEA 11) raided a residence at Emily Homes Subdivision in Cabantian, Davao City, and seized P23-million worth of narcotics.
The NBI 11 confirmed that the house was supposedly being used as a “repacking and distribution hub for illegal drugs.”
However, operatives of NBI 11 led by Regional Director lawyer Archie Albao failed to arrest the suspects and owners of the illegal drugs.
Albao affirmed that they already got one to two identities of the suspects and will call them via subpoena.
“Wala tayong nahuli na suspects kasi walang nag pick-up nitong mga illegal drugs. Meron na kaming subject and definitely we will call him via subpeoona. Nasa isa pa or dalawa pa lang ang nakuha naming na mga pangalan. We cannot divulge identities as of this time kasi ongoing ang investigation and operation as well,” Albao said during a press conference on Monday.
According to Albao, a caretaker of the said house went to the office of NBI 11 on Saturday and informed them of the said illicit activities in the said residence.
“Sinasabi niya na hindi na daw niya ma-take ang mga nagyayari doon sa bahay kaya nagbigay siya ng information. Nag surveillance kami ng Saturday hanggang Sunday ng madaling araw, so doon na kami nag strike, kasi naghintay kami na may mag pi-pick up nitong mga illegal drugs, pero wala, so pinasok na namin yung bahay,” he said.
Albao said food delivery service is said to be the front business of the said illegal activities that have been taking place for one year already.
Albao confirmed that NBI 11 will file a case against those persons liable for this kind of illicit activity.
During the operation, NBI 11 and the authorities confiscated the following narcotics and drug paraphernalia: 4.885 kilograms of Kush with an estimated street value of P5.86 million, 1.575 kilograms of shabu with an estimated street value of P17.325 million, food delivery boxes used to conceal drug distribution, heat sealers, and repackaging tools, a range of imported cannabis-based products (Multiple Boutique Switch V3 HCT Concentrates, Multiple Kaws Exotic and Cereal Edition packages, multiple Packwoods x Runtz vape pens, Bored Hash Headibles); big chief guava live resin, and sluggers HIT disposables/mr.
Albao said most of the recovered evidence had came from Luzon based on the packaging.
