Thousands of Muslim faithful from various communities in Davao City attended the special prayers or Centralized Eid’l Adha Congregational Prayer in celebration of Eid’l Adha at the Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue, Davao City on Friday.
Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a major holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide for three to four days.
The activity was also attended by consular officials from Indonesia and Malaysia in Davao.
According to Randy Usman, former Maranao Deputy Mayor, Eid Al Adha is a treasured chance for solidarity among friends and loved ones regardless of religion.
Usman also thanked the city government of Davao for allowing the Muslim community to celebrate Eid’l Adha.
The Madrasah Davao shared online that this significant religious gathering has brought together Muslim faithful united in prayer, reflection, and celebration on one of the most sacred days in the Islamic calendar.
Madrasah Davao explained that the centralized prayer serves not only as a moment of spiritual significance but also as a powerful symbol of unity, peace, and shared values among the Muslim Ummah.
“It commemorates the profound legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), emphasizing the values of faith, sacrifice, and obedience to Allah (SWT),” it stated.
Meanwhile, the Davao City Jail Female Dormitory also celebrated Eid’l Adha with the 24 beloved female Muslim Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
The Davao City Jail posted that this sacred occasion is “a time for reflection, sacrifice, and renewed faith. We believe that spiritual well-being is a cornerstone of rehabilitation, and providing a space for our Muslim sisters to observe this significant holiday is paramount to their holistic development.”
It said that through communal prayers, shared meals, and heartfelt conversations, the PDLs were able to connect with their faith and with each other, fostering a sense of community and belonging even within the facility.
“It’s a powerful reminder that even in challenging circumstances, faith can provide comfort, strength, and hope,” Davao City Jail said.
