Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed on Monday that there are firms that are operating to attack her and the Duterte family online.
This developed after Bilyonaryo News recently exposed Joseph Augustin “Jaeger” Tanco, son of billionaire Eusebio “Yosi” Tanco Jr. and founder and president of Comm&Sense Inc., a Makati-based PR firm that was recently flagged by OpenAI for using ChatGPT to create fake TikTok and Facebook accounts.
Allegedly these accounts were used to promote President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and attack the vice president, with some posts mocking her as “Princess Fiona,” a character in the movie “Shrek.”
“Actually, hindi lang ‘yun kay Tanco ang kumpanya na nagpapatakbo ng programs na anti-Sara Duterte online, anti-Duterte online. Mayroon pang mga ibang kompanya na alam namin na ganun ‘yung ginagawa nila at alam din namin na bayad sila. Kaya ako nagsasabi lagi na ‘yung ginagawa sa akin ay threats, harassment and intended to disqualify me from the 2028 presidential elections. Kasi tulad niyan, tingnan niyo. Noon, may Tricom ba tawag nung hearing? —anong…? Quadcom, tapos may Tricom for fake news. Yes. May Tricom na for fake news,” Duterte told the media.
The vice president was referring to the tri-committee hearing on fake news held in March this year wherein the House of Representatives summoned pro-Duterte vloggers Krizette Chu and MJ Quiambao for allegedly posting false information online.
“Pero kung makikita niyo ang mga tinawag nila doon ay mga lihitimong owners ng Facebook account using their freedom of speech and expression. Mga lihitimong social media personalities na nagbibigay ng kanilang opinion na hindi naman bawal sa batas pero nakakalungkot kasi iyong kanilang opinion pro-Duterte, pro-Sara Duterte at ‘yun ang iniimbestigahan. Pero ang mga tulad nito, mga kumpanya na ang negosyon nila ay gumagamit ng mga program para sirain ang pangalan ng isang tao ay hindi man lang kahit isang beses tinawag doon sa Tricom na investigation ng House of Representatives,” Duterte said.
The vice president pointed out that this shows what all this really is, politics and harassment of the administration’s political opponents.
“Hindi na ‘yan nanggaling sa amin. Hindi na kami nagsasalita kung anong mga panggigipit ang ginagawa sa amin. Tumatahimik na lang kami, ang mga kaalyado namin, tumatahimik na lang. ‘Yan talaga tulad nung pag-amin ng mga Congressman na may natanggap silang pera kapalit ng signature, ‘yung nilabas ng OpenAI na isang kumpanya na involved sa paninirang puri ng mga tao ay hindi galing sa amin, galing na sa universe para lang ipakita sa mga tao na kung anong ginagawa ng administrasyon. Puro pulitika, walang trabaho at ngayon gusto pa ang i-blame sa akin ang bagsak na ekonomiya ng Pilipinas,” she said.
The vice president said she does not intend to file cases against the company of Tanco anymore as his credibility as a service provider was already humiliated when AI released it.
“Hindi na. Sobrang napahiya na siya doon nung nilabas ‘yon ng AI. I mean nasaan na ‘yung credibility mo as a service provider noong sinabi na ganyan ‘yung negosyo mo? So, ano pang point na kasuhan ko siya? Nakakahiya na ‘yung… Napahiya na siya doon sa nangyari. At nakita ng buong mundo ‘yung kahihiyan na ginawa niya,” Duterte said.
