Commuters at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) can now access free public Wi-Fi, an official said Tuesday.
In an interview with the Philippine News Agency, Aisa Usop, the DCOTT manager, confirmed that the free Wi-Fi service was launched earlier this month and is available throughout the 1.7-acre terminal.
Usop emphasized the importance of providing this service, noting that many passengers rely on it to stay in touch with loved ones awaiting their arrival.
“This is a big help to the commuters, especially when they run out of prepaid load. They can still inform their loved ones,” she said.
Passengers inside the DCOTT premises can enjoy 30 minutes of Wi-Fi access and can reconnect once their session ends.
“This is under the control of the Department of Information and Communications Technology in Davao Region, and we restrict connections outside the terminal to avoid slowing the internet connection,” Usop explained.
DCOTT serves approximately 35,000 passengers daily and facilitates about 700 bus trips to and from destinations across Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon. (PNA)
