The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is gearing for the implementation of the security plan in time for the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., slated on Monday.
According to Capt. Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of DCPO, the security plan and deployment of DCPO personnel are ready.
Tuazon said DCPO will also deploy personnel from the City Mobile Force Company, and from Sta. Ana Police Station and San Pedro Police Station to the Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue where progressive groups are expected to stage a rally.
“Prior sa ilahang pag-abot naa na ang atong deployment ana especially from the City and Explosive Canine Unit (CECU) kay seguruhon pud nato nga safety pud sila nga magconduct ug rally sa may Freedom Park,” Tuazon said during the Davao City Peace and Security Corps media briefing.
According to Tuazon, although there has not been any recorded violence in Davao City in the previous SONAs, however, the police will remain alert.
She added that apart from the rallyists, they will also ensure the security of the spectators of the rally.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is undertaking extensive and meticulous preparations at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City to ensure the security of the upcoming SONA of Marcos.
According to PNP, over 22,000 police officers will be deployed on Monday and of the number, 16,069 police officers will come from Metro Manila, 3,707 from Central Luzon and Calabarzon and 2,579 from various agencies.
