Davao City First District Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte and acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II started giving out solar lights to barangays in the First District of Davao City.
The first to benefit from the initiative were Barangay 76-A Bucana and Barangay Ma-a, where the acting vice mayor personally handed over the items on Thursday.
No formal program or ceremony was held during the distribution, and it was just delivered to the barangay officials so that it could be used immediately by the people.
The solar lights came with sports equipment, including basketball rings and fiberglass boards.
Barangay Captain Robert Olan-Olan of Barangay 76-A Bucana expressed gratitude for the items that his barangay received.
“Dako gyud ni’g tabang para sa among mga kabatan-onan. Sauna kahoy ra among board, karon fiber glass na gyud. Level up na ang among sports program,” he said.
According to the office of Rep. Duterte, the distribution of the items will be conducted every week until all the barangays in the First District have received them.
The distribution is part of the continuous efforts of Rep. Duterte with acting Vice Mayor Rigo to promote youth development, barangay sports programs, and community lighting through solar lighting systems.
