Task Force Davao (TFD) and Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel intercepted suspected shabu worth P896,000 at Sirawan checkpoint in Toril, Davao City on Sunday evening.
Authorities arrested the suspect identified as alias “Alnor,” a resident of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, while passing through the border checkpoint on board a silver Toyota Hiace towards Davao City.
Recovered from the suspect were 19 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, approximately weighing 119.43 grams, with an estimated street value of P895,725.
According to TF Davao, the suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The seized evidence has been turned over to the Toril Police Station for proper disposition.
TF Davao Commander Colonel Rodrigo A. Mariñas Jr. commended the relentless efforts of TFD and DCPO personnel in conducting thorough inspections at the city’s entry points.
Meanwhile, TF Davao, in coordination with DCPO and the Bureau of Internal Revenue 11 (BIR 11), on Saturday night apprehended at Sirawan checkpoint a suspect who was allegedly attempting to smuggle into Davao City cigarettes worth P669,501.
Authorities said the suspect identified as alias “Nudirna,” a resident of Barangay Poblacion III, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, was on board a white Mitsubishi Strada pick-up, traveling from Zamboanga City to Davao City.
TF Davao confiscated from the suspect 852 reams of smuggled Bosqu and Greenhill cigarettes with an estimated street value of P669,501.
The suspect is now under the custody of Toril Police Station and will be facing charges for violations of Republic Act 4712 (An Act Amending Certain Sections of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines – Smuggled Cigarettes).
