Acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II wanted their visit to former President Rodrigo Duterte in The Hague, Netherlands, next month to be a grandchildren-grandfather bonding with no discussion about politics.
Rigo announced during the Pulong-Pulong sa Dabawenyo forum, on Tuesday, that he will visit with his brother, Congressman Omar, and his sister Isabelle at the detention facility of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in August this year.
He said they will be accompanied by their father, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.
“Mao tu ang plano namo, ako, Cong. Omar, akong amahan ug babaye na igsoon nako si Sabel nga naa pa sa Australia sabay nami muadto sa Hague next month. Hopefully next month, August, kay mao na among gi-unsa…..sa ICC. Sa akoa lang basin makahilak ko makita niya unya I don’t want anything political. I like this to be grandchildren and grandfather bonding lang,” Rigo said.
Rigo, who is the namesake of the former president, added that this is also an opportunity for him to ask personal advices from the former president, now that he is also a public official.
“Puwede pud mangayo ko ug advise. Karon kay acting vice mayor ko unsa imong puwede ma-advise. Basin ang iyang isulti lang sa akoa kay ‘ayaw lang pag change unya trabaho lang.’ Usually kung mag meet mi mga apo, wala mi ga istorya ug trabaho ug everything political. Sometimes may be kung magkaon, seldom, mostly kami bonding gyud,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rep. Pulong made a surprise visit to the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on Tuesday to personally witness his son, Rigo, presided over the regular session of the 21st City Council.
Rep. Pulong told the media that he wanted to see the ability of his son to preside over the City Council session as the mandate given to him by the Dabawenyos.
“Dapat ipakita pud niya nga naa siya’y kaalam sa ingon ana nga trabaho. Saktong pagtagad sa katawhan, sa mga Dabawenyo, kung naay mga panginahanglan sa mga panghitabo karon dapat magpakita gyud siya kay apil na sa iyahang trabaho,” he said.
He also advised the council to always be ready to serve the Dabawenyos.
“Sama sa akong gisulti na overwhelming kaayo ang suporta sa katawhang Dabawenyo sa Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod ug sa PDP Laban, ipakita sa atoang mga konsehal ang ilahang katakus ug ang ilahang kaandam nga mu-serbisyo sa katawhan sa Davao,” Rep. Pulong said.
