Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCCII), Inc. President Roland Suico bared to Edge Davao that a business delegation from Thailand is expected to attend this year’s 8th Davao Investment Conference (Davao ICON) and 27th Davao Agri Trade Expo (DATE) slated on September 17 to 21, 2025 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City.
“They will bring around 15 delegates, and we’re trying to negotiate for them to get a pavilion,” Suico said.
The DCCCII announced on its Facebook page that Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Philippines, confirmed participation of the business delegation in DATE and Davao ICON 2025 during her visit to DCCCII on Monday.
Sumitmor was accompanied by Yupawan Premchit Taniguchi, Counsellor (Economic), and Anna Lorraine Reyes, Administrative Assistant of the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila.
During the meeting, Suico, DCCCII Chairman of the Board Dr. Malou Monteverde, members of the Board of Trustees, and Davao ICON Chairperson discussed the event’s program, speakers, key topics, and the industries and companies that have already confirmed to attend the event.
“This engagement underscores the increasing cooperation between Thailand and Davao, and reinforces regional efforts to foster investment, trade, and economic partnerships,” DCCCII said.
Davao ICON and DATE are dubbed Mindanao’s biggest business and agriculture events hosted by DCCCII that showcase the strengths and competitive advantages of Davao.
Carrying the theme “Beyond Borders: Navigating the New Frontier” captures the bold vision behind the two events, which reflects the growing need for industries to transcend traditional boundaries—geographical, economic, and technological—as Davao positions itself not only as a regional leader but as an active player in the global investment and agricultural landscapes.
According to DCCICII, the theme emphasizes how the event is “not just about local commerce, but about building meaningful connections that reach far beyond.”
