Vice President Sara Duterte refused to comment on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s statement that he remains open to her suggestions if it will help the public.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated on Thursday that Malacanang is open to any constructive proposals from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on running the government.
“On the part of the Palace, welcome po kung anuman po ang suhestiyon na makabuluhan, magandang suhestiyon na magmumula sa OVP. Hindi po ito tinatanggihan at hindi po sinasara ng Pangulo ang pintuan sa Bise Presidente. Lahat po ng maaaring suhestiyon na makabuluhan ay tatanggapin po iyan kung ito naman po ay makakatulong sa taumbayan,” Castro said.
“No comment,” the vice president’s reply when asked by the media in The Hague, Netherlands on Friday.
Meanwhile, the vice president said in her visit to former President Rodrigo Duterte, she told the former president not to wallow in self-pity while inside the detention center of the International Criminal Court (ICC), concerning his “last wish.”
“He was giving something in his last wishes on what to do like with his motorcycles, those kind of things and about the cremation again. I told him it is not a problem with me because life and death is a matter of fact with me like for example nasa loob ka, nakakulong that’s a fact so do not wallow yourself in pity, do not go on self pity, depression and sadness,” she said.
The vice president said being in a detention center should be considered an opportunity to figure out what a person wants and create a solution.
“It’s a matter of fact that I am here, so what am I gonna do here when I am inside? Maybe write a book, exercise every day so that we will get the figure that we want, seguro if it is allowed, get another degree. Life and death are a matter of fact to me, so if I’m tired, I need to rest, if I’m hungry, I need to eat, like that. I don’t look at it as a challenge or problem, but I look at it as a way to create a solution,” she said.
