Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) manager Aisa Usop is expecting a 20% to 30% increase in the influx of passengers this Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival.
“We are expecting 20% to 30% increase of inlfux of passengers nga muari sa dakbayan aron mutan-aw sa atoang selebrasyon sa Kadayawan sa Davao. Based on experience dili na magpareha everyday compare sa Holy Week ug All Sainst Day. Sa Kadayawan depends on the activity nga gusto tan-awon sa atoang kasigpit nga mga municipality and provinces,” Usop said during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Usop said that is equivalent to an additional 900 to 1,000 bus trips a day or 40,000 to 45,000 passengers a day.
“We are expecting the influx of passengers atoa na gi-coordinate sa atoang LTFRB nga basin naay mag-anha sa ilaha nga bus operators aron mag request for special permit to augment sa ilahang mga buses nga naga biyahe because usa pud ni ang Kadayawan why naay influx of passengers sa atoang DCOTT,” she added.
Usop added that she already talked to the DCOTT staff and the Civil Security Unit (CSU) of the enforcement of the security measures inside DCOTT.
Usop also reminded the drivers and operators of the “no pick up” policy at DCOTT to ensure passenger safety and decongest traffic.
The policy prohibits buses from picking up passengers outside the terminal, requiring all loading and unloading to occur within the DCOTT premises.
Usop also urged passengers and bus drivers to have self-discipline to only ride at the DCOTT terminal, while bus drivers are also warned not to pick up passengers on highways.
