The Department of Public Works and Highways 11 (DPWH 11) asserted that the signage mounted at the Maa-Magtuod flyover is misleading and denied that construction of the said project is being delayed.
Photos of a signage mounted at the flyover has been circulating online over the weekend, alleging that the pending construction of the Ma-a flyover in Davao City is due to political issues.
“Pahibalo: Ang pagka delatar sa maong proyekto nga flyover dala sa pag pangipit sa adminsitrasyong Marcos ug Romualdez. Wala gi-asikaso sa DPWH ang road right of way sa pagpugong sa budget sa maong proyekto ug sa hinay nga lihok sa legal office sa DWPH (Notice: The delay of the construction of the said flyover project is due to the pressure of the Marcos and Romualdez administrations. The DPWH did not take care of the road right of way in controlling the budget of the project and the slow movement of the legal office in the DWPH),” it said.
In a statement, DPWH 11 clarified the signage now being circulated on social media on the ongoing Maa-Magtuod Flyover Project, is false and misleading.
According to DPWH 11, the project has been fully funded since 2022. The funds needed for the completion of the project have already been released.
It also said that at present, civil works are ongoing at 82.5%.
The DPWH also emphasized that there are still minor Road Right-of-Way (RROW) concerns involving a few remaining properties and utilities.
“The majority of these have already been resolved, while some are awaiting funds for settlement. As of now, four properties have been tagged as urgent for acquisition and are currently being processed by the office. The acquisition took time for these properties due to existing mortgage lien issues with their land titles. Yet, the office is actively coordinating with their respective mortgagee banks,” the DPWH 11 stated.
As for the affected utilities, DPWH 11 stated that it has been informed by the Davao Light and Power Company that relocation of electric poles along the Monteritz side is scheduled on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
“Coordination with telecommunications companies is also ongoing, as we await their response regarding the removal and relocation of their affected poles,” it said.
“We assure the public that the Maa-Magtuod Flyover Project remains a priority, and DPWH continues to work toward its completion. We also encourage the public to be vigilant against misinformation and to rely on official sources for project updates,” DPWH 11 added.
