Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday arrived in Kuwait to attend the Thanksgiving event of Hakbang ng Maisug International – Kuwait Chapter at Safir Hotel, State of Kuwait, later that day.

Aside from the Maisug event, Duterte was also scheduled to meet and talk to the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) community in Kuwait.

Based on the videos shared online, the Filipinos welcomed the vice president with excitement.

An uploader of a video captioned “She brings great excitement and vigor to the Filipino community.”

In her speech, she mentioned the low salaries of nurses in the Philippines as among the reasons why nurses opted to work abroad.

Bakit? Malaki ang sahod. No brainer ang sagot.

The Maisug Thanksgiving celebration carries the theme “From Gratitude to Good Governance.”

On August 7, Duterte accused Malacañang of spreading false claims after Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the vice president made an unauthorized trip to Kuwait.

Duterte, speaking to reporters in Davao City following the Misa Pasasalamat that signaled the opening of Kadayawan 2025, said the Palace was just diverting public attention from the dismissal of her impeachment complaint.

Meanwhile, on August 9, Castro denied saying that Duterte had travelled to Kuwait without a travel authority and reiterated that she only responded to queries about the whereabouts of the vice president.
