22 security staff complete training ahead of DC Bus system launch

Twenty-two Civil Security Guards (CSGs) from the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) have completed a five-day intensive training program held from September 15 to 19, bolstering the city government’s preparations for the rollout of the Davao City Interim Bus (DC Bus) system.

The training was conducted in partnership with the Davao Public Transport Modernization Program (DPTMP) and aimed to equip the guards with essential skills to ensure passenger safety and maintain peace and order within the city’s soon-to-launch modern public transport network.

Combining classroom lectures with hands-on exercises, the training covered a comprehensive range of topics, including the culture of security, bomb detection awareness, anti-criminality strategies, intelligence gathering, fire prevention, basic life support, and unarmed combat. The intensive curriculum was designed to prepare the CSGs to respond effectively to various safety and emergency scenarios.

Experts from the PSSO, Task Force Davao, Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Bureau of Fire Protection, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office served as resource speakers, providing specialized instruction and real-world insights from their respective fields.

The city government described the program’s successful completion as a significant milestone in Davao’s ongoing transport modernization initiatives. It also underscored the local government’s continued commitment to ensuring commuter safety and building a secure, reliable environment as the DC Bus system begins operations.

The Davao City Interim Bus (DC Bus) is a city-led initiative that will offer free, modern public transport during peak hours, as part of efforts to ease congestion and improve urban mobility.

The system will deploy ten low-floor buses equipped with CCTV cameras, GPS tracking, and PWD-friendly ramps, operating along routes identified through commuter data from the Peak Hours Augmentation Bus Service (PHABS).

As Davao continues to modernize its public transport infrastructure, programs like the CSG training play a vital role in ensuring that safety and service quality remain top priorities.
