The city government of Davao has extended burial and financial assistance to the families of the seven individuals who died in the Mini Asik-Asik Falls drowning incident in Barangay Carmen, Baguio District last week.
Eight individuals were carried away by floodwaters at the Talomo River after swimming at the mini Asik-Asik Falls in Barangay Carmen, Davao City on September 14, 2025 and were recovered by authorities on Saturday, September 20.
The assistance was facilitated through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the City Mayor’s Office, and Lingap.
CSWDO Head Julie P. Dayaday said on Monday that their office provided cash and food assistance under the Assistance in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, while Lingap helped cover funeral expenses.
Dayaday said as of last week, CSWDO has already assisted five families, since some of the victims were siblings.
“Nakahatag ta og assistance sa ilaha labi na gyud sa ilahang request na funeral [assistance] kay medyo dako pud ang amount sa funeral, in coordination with the City Mayor’s Office, Lingap and CSWDO,” she added.
Each victim’s family received P5,000 in cash aid along with food packs.
Following the tragedy, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) declared the site a danger zone and imposed a ban on all activities in the area and directed barangays, security groups, and Bantay Bukid to strictly enforce the prohibition, citing the risk of sudden water rise from the Talomo River.
