The city government of Davao signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with McDonald’s Philippines for the work opportunity program for senior citizens at Sangguniang Panlungsod in Davao City on Tuesday.

Represented by Councilors Diosdado Mahipus Jr. and Enzo Villfuerte for the city government of Davao, and the HR Business Partnering and People System Human Capital Group, represented by Director for Talent Acquisition Tess Domingo for McDonald’s, the program will welcome senior citizens to work in McDonald’s stores across Davao City.

The agreement highlighted that the city will do the initial screening and assist in the processing of the requirements, while McDonald’s will conduct the final assessment upon employing the senior citizens.

“In our stores, we will be welcoming employment of the senior citizens in Davao City for McDonald’s,” said Augustine Rosalio Torres, Public Affairs Senior Manager of McDonald’s Philippines, in an interview.

Torres said they committed their 18 McDonald’s stores from over 20 stores in Davao City for the program and that they are looking at hiring two senior citizens per store per batch.

“We will be employing them for five months to allow other senior citizens to experience working for McDonald’s,” he said.

When hired, among the tasks of the senior citizens will be welcoming customers and serving food.

“You will be seeing them in the stores welcoming you to our stores, and they will be there to assist you in terms of the cleanliness and customer experience. From serving your food in our dine-in stores in Davao City. You will be seeing them with the fixed smile as they serve your best-tasting burger and world-famous fries,” Torres said.

Torres said McDonald’s has programs offered particularly to working students and senior citizens.

“There are never enough employment opportunities. Senior citizens are also part of the community, and we are looking forward, especially the physically able ones. We welcome them to our McDonald’s
