Acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte reaffirmed the city government’s unwavering commitment to public safety as he presided over the third quarter meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) on Thursday.

During the meeting, Duterte emphasized the importance of maintaining Davao City’s standing as one of the safest cities in the Philippines. He outlined key priorities for the local government and law enforcement agencies, including tighter inter-agency coordination, improved intelligence sharing, and proactive strategies to address emerging security threats.

Duterte stressed that peace and order must remain the city’s foremost priority. He underscored the need for sustained collaboration between government agencies and the community, and called on officials to ensure accountability and timely implementation of peace and order initiatives.

The CPOC meets quarterly to assess the city’s security landscape, align policy directions, and strengthen joint efforts among stakeholders. It serves as the city’s main platform for addressing issues affecting public safety and law enforcement effectiveness.

Davao City’s peace and order efforts continue to earn national and international recognition. In its most recent report, the World Travel Index (WTI) ranked Davao as the second safest city in the Philippines, a distinction that reflects the city’s ongoing dedication to creating a secure and livable environment for its residents and visitors alike.
