Barangay Captain Robert Olanolan of Barangay 76-A announced on Tuesday, that he has filed a Petition for Review by way of Certiorari and a Motion for Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) before the Supreme Court to contest the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman–Mindanao, which suspended him for 30 days from his post as Punong Barangay.
In a press statement, OlanOlan clarified that his action is not an act of defiance but “a humble effort in pursuit of justice and truth.”
“Dako akong pagrespeto sa Ombudsman, apan nagtuo ko nga sa desisyon wala nipatigbabaw ang tinuod nga tumong ug kasingkasing sa akong pag-alagad,” he said.
The suspension stems from his opposition to the demolition of houses in Cabacan–Times Beach, a contested area between local residents and Ecoland Properties Development Corporation.
Olanolan expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will recognize his genuine commitment to serve his constituents “honestly and faithfully.”
“Nagsalig ko nga ang Korte Suprema makakita sa akong tinuoray nga katuyoan — ang pag-alagad nga matinud-anon ug alang sa kaayohan sa katawhan,” he stated.
The barangay captain also appealed for prayers and support as he seeks a fair resolution to his case.
“Bisan sa mga pagsulay, magpadayon akong mag-alagad nga klaro, matinud-anon, ug sinsero. Sa katapusan, ang kamatuoran ug hustisya ang magadaog,” he added.
