
The City Council of Davao has approved the release of P3.9 million in financial assistance to the Province of Cebu and several localities placed under a State of Calamity following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck on September 30, 2025.
During its regular session on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the 21st City Council of Davao passed an ordinance authorizing the financial aid, which will be sourced from the city’s Quick Response Fund (QRF).
Councilor Danny Dayanghirang, chairperson of the Committee on Finance, Ways and Means, and Appropriation, said the city government is ready to immediately release the P3.9 million financial assistance approved for Cebu Province and its affected localities.
The assistance will be distributed as follows: Province of Cebu – P1 million, City of Bogo – P500,000; Municipality of Medellin – P300,000; Municipality of Daanbantayan – P300,000; Municipality of Tabogon – P300,000; Municipality of Madridejos – P300,000; Municipality of Sogod – P300,000; Municipality of Tabuelan – P300,000; Municipality of San Remigio – P300,000; and Municipality of Borbon – ₱300,000.
The City Council stated that the aid reflects Davao’s continuing commitment to extend help to fellow local governments in times of calamity, emphasizing the spirit of “Dabawenyo bayanihan” beyond city borders.
The city government of Davao earlier sent 5,000 relief packs, 6,000 bottles of water, and deployed medical and psychosocial teams to assist affected communities in Cebu.
Dayanghirang added that apart from Cebu, the city government of Davao is also planning to extend assistance to areas in the Davao Region affected by the series of earthquakes on October 10, in addition to the initial relief operations already conducted.
