Davao City emerged as the fastest-growing economy in the Davao Region in 2024, posting a robust 7.9 percent growth rate, outpacing the region’s overall economic expansion of 6.3 percent, according to the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–Davao Region.

PSA-Davao Region underscored that all five provinces and the highly urbanized city recorded economic gains last year, but Davao City led the pack—reflecting its continued role as the region’s economic and investment hub. Following the city were Davao del Norte with a 5.4% growth rate, Davao del Sur at 4.9%, Davao Oriental at 4.0%, Davao Occidental at 3.9%, and Davao de Oro at 3.1%.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has conferred a Certificate of Special Recognition on Davao City as a finalist for the 2025 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) Awards under the City Level 1B (Provincial Highly Urbanized Cities) category.

The award, presented on September 25, 2025, highlights Davao City’s steadfast commitment to good governance, regulatory reforms, and sustainable economic development, key factors that continue to attract investors and foster a dynamic business environment.

According to the city government of Davao, the recognition is more than just an accolade; it underscores the collaboration between the local government, the business community, and Dabawenyos in driving inclusive and innovation-led growth.

“This milestone affirms our collective efforts to make Davao City a place where businesses can thrive, opportunities can grow, and people can prosper,” the city government said in a statement.

It also said that as Davao City strengthens its policies on competitiveness, transparency, and ease of doing business, the recognition further cements its vision of becoming the premier investment destination in the Philippines—a city defined by resilience, inclusivity, and progress.
