Davao City will provide P2.7 million in financial assistance to Davao Oriental following a series of earthquakes that recently struck the province.
Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chairperson of the Committee on Ways and Means and Appropriations, confirmed that the City Council approved the financial aid during its regular session on Tuesday, October 28.
Dayanghirang said according to the resolution passed by the Davao City Council, the beneficiaries of the assistance are as follows: Province of Davao Oriental (P1,000,000), Mati City (P500,000), Caraga (P300,000), Manay (P300,000), Tarragona (P300,000), and Baganga (P300,000).
The assistance, which will come from the city’s Quick Response Fund, will be immediately delivered by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to the municipalities in Davao Oriental most affected by tremors.
Dayanghirang said the aid will serve as a significant help to the victims and give affected residents a chance to recover from the disaster.
Dayanghirang added that the aid reflects the city’s continuing commitment to support neighboring provinces during times of calamity and recovery.
