The Davao del Norte provincial government took pride on Monday, as its governor was appointed as the new Regional Development Council (RDC) 11 head.
The jubilation followed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s appointment of Governor Edwin Jubahib as chairperson of the RDC-11 for the 2025–2028 term on Oct. 24.
In its official Facebook page, the RDC-11 congratulated Jubahib and welcomed his appointment.
“Your leadership marks a new chapter in advancing inclusive and sustainable development across the Davao Region,” the Council said.
The RDC-11 is the top policy-making body at the regional level, responsible for coordinating and guiding all socio-economic development efforts.
It is composed of local government officials and regional heads of national government agencies, along with private sector representatives, often nominated by non-government organizations and civil society groups.
As the new RDC-11 chair, Jubahib will lead the development and oversight of regional physical, development, and investment plans, review and approve policies, and monitor major regional activities.
He will also represent the region in Cabinet meetings and other national-level activities, particularly in the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Board Regional Development Committee – Mindanao Area Committee.
Now in his third term as governor, Jubahib has built a reputation in transformative local governance, leading Davao del Norte to success.
Under his helm, Jubahib supported the investigation into corruption in government infrastructure projects, emphasizing that public funds must serve the Filipino people, not enrich corrupt officials.
He formed a Special Inspection Team to review major infrastructure projects of the national government in the province. (PNA)
