The Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) is calling on Dabawenyos to demonstrate discipline—the city’s core value—when visiting cemeteries during the observance of Undas 2025.
Angel Sumagaysay, head of PSSO, reminded residents to treat discipline as a shared responsibility, especially during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
“Hopefully, sa panahon sa kalag-kalag isulod permi na sa inyong utok nga tanan ta, permi makita nato sa dalan, nga ang dabawenyo, disiplinado,” Sumagaysay said over Madayaw Davao.
He emphasized that all guidelines will be strictly and fairly implemented across both public and private cemeteries.
“Mag adhere lang ta sa atung giset na mga guidelines para iwas hassle once nga gusto ninyo musulod sa mga semeteryo,” he said.
The PSSO also advised residents to secure their valuables and ensure their homes are locked before visiting cemeteries to prevent theft or untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, the Davao City Economic Enterprises (CEE) is also calling on Dabawenyos to practice discipline and cleanliness as they visit cemeteries to pay respects to their departed loved ones.
April Love N. Rebote, Market Inspector I of the CEE, said the city has been preparing for months to ensure a safe, orderly, and solemn observance of Kalag-kalag 2025 and the preparations include cleanup drives, facility inspections, and the issuance of public advisories to remind residents of proper conduct in cemeteries.
“Naa tay mga preparatory activities no aron hapsay gyud ang pag gunita sa kalag kalag 2025 so gina awhag ang mga katawhan nga mu follow ta sa gi hatag na guidelines para malinawon atung pag gunita sa kalag kalag 2025,” she said over Davao City Disaster Radio.
Rebote emphasized that visitors must observe the one entrance policy while vehicles follow a one-way route.
She said all visitors are urged to clean up and dispose of trash responsibly and face masks are strongly advised for seniors, pregnant women, and individuals with health risks.
She added that wearing of jackets, bringing backpacks, playing loud music or karaoke, gambling, bringing alcoholic drinks and pointed objects, are strictly prohibited.
Rebote reminded that vendors shall be allowed to operate from 6 am to 8 pm daily within the premises or the immediate vicinity of all cemeteries.
She added that all vendors must segregate trash and may only offer non-plastic alternatives for spoons, forks, straws, stirrers, cups and plates to customers and only sealed water bottles are to be sold to the general public.
