Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Thursday denounced what he called “recycled accusations” being circulated online, comparing them to similar allegations recently hurled against Senator Chiz Escudero.
Among the issues raised is Go’s alleged connection to his family’s businesses, particularly CLTG Builders — a company owned by his father — which is reportedly linked to Discayas, a contractor now under scrutiny for questionable flood control projects.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed that an investigation is underway in coordination with the Office of the Ombudsman to look into CLTG Builders’ ties to the Discayas and their alleged anomalies.
Go, however, insisted that the allegations are merely a diversionary tactic.
“I am one with the Filipino people in this crusade against corruption. Tumbukin dapat ang mastermind sa flood control projects anomaly, huwag ilihis dahil kawawa ang taumbayan. Huwag po tayong pumayag na lokohin nila ang Pilipino,” he said.
He emphasized that he has no involvement in the business dealings of Discayas and called for accountability regardless of who is implicated.
“Kasuhan niyo (ang Discayas), wala po akong pakialam… Wala silang dapat proteksyunan sa akin dahil wala po akong kinalaman,” Go said, urging the Discayas to speak the truth.
He also distanced himself from his family’s business interests.
“Kung puwede lang pumili ng kamag-anak, papalitan ko ’yung kamag-anak ko… Anong kinalaman ko riyan?” he added.
The senator reiterated that he is open to any investigation, confident that he has done nothing wrong.
“I welcome any investigation. Let the facts speak for themselves. Wala akong tinatago, wala akong kinatatakutan dahil wala akong kasalanan. Hindi ako sangkot sa anumang anomalya,” Go declared.
For his part, Dizon assured the public that the ongoing investigation will be conducted thoroughly and transparently, stressing that accountability will be pursued regardless of position or political ties.
