Everyone at the Sangguniang Panlungsod building including some city councilors were safely evacuated on Tuesday morning, following a powerful earthquake that struck Davao City.
All personnel promptly exited the premises as part of the building’s standard emergency protocol. No injuries or major damage were reported during the evacuation.
After the tremor, the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and the Office of the City Building Official (OCBO) immediately conducted a structural integrity inspection of the SP building to ensure the safety of its occupants.
Following a thorough assessment, the structure was declared safe, and employees and council members were allowed to return to their offices to resume work.
Local authorities reminded the public to stay alert for possible aftershocks and to follow safety protocols in the event of future earthquakes.
