VP Sara’s security chief relieved from post

The security chief of Vice President Sara Duterte has been relieved from his post, according to reports.

As of this writing, the Marcos administration has not issued an official statement regarding the reason behind the relief order or who will replace the security official.

The development has sparked speculation about possible internal changes within the vice president’s security detail.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the relief was part of a routine reassignment or linked to a specific incident.

In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said it was informed of the relief of Col. Raymund Dante Lachica upon his receipt of the order on Monday, October 6, 2025.

No message or explanation was given to the OVP, the statement said.

The OVP said it expresses its sincere gratitude for the outstanding contributions made by Col. Lachica the institution and it have accomplished more than its targets because of Col. Lachica’s support to the vision of a life of peace and comfort for all Filipinos.

“We salute his resoluteness, professionalism, and integrity,” the OVP added.

In July last year, the vice president confirmed the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) had ordered the relief of all 75 Police and Security Group personnel that were previously assigned for her protection.

Also in November last year, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. said many of the members of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) will be temporarily replaced with new personnel from the AFP and the PNP.
