City Council of Davao approves P15.8-B 2026 annual budget

The Davao City Council has approved on third and final reading the city’s P15.8-billion annual budget for 2026 during its special session on Thursday.

Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chairperson of the Committee on Finance, said that of the total amount, P13.6 billion will be allocated to the general fund proper, P2 billion to the development fund, and P165 million to the economic enterprises.

Dayanghirang said the 2026 budget will continue to support the 12 priority programs of Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte’s administration, including initiatives on education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and solid waste management.

“These priorities reflect our continued commitment to responsive, sustainable, and inclusive growth for all Dabawenyos,” Dayanghirang said.

He added that the city’s programs will focus on improving quality of life and strengthening community capabilities.

He emphasized that the approved budget is 10.76 percent higher than the P14.3 billion allocation for 2025, reflecting the city government’s strengthened investment in social and economic development programs.

Dayanghirang earlier reported an unappropriated balance of P43.39 million from the city’s economic enterprises, crediting prudent fiscal management and sustained revenue growth.

He added that the measure authorizes the City Treasurer to implement appropriations starting January 2026, ensuring the continuity of vital projects and services aligned with Davao City’s vision of inclusive and sustainable growth.
