Davao City has secured a spot among the Top 10 Fastest-Growing Highly Urbanized Cities in the country, according to the data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The city ranked fifth nationwide in annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for 2024, posting a 7.9% increase.
Puerto Princesa City led the list with a 9.8% growth rate, followed by Iligan City with 8.8%, Butuan City with 8.7%, and Tacloban City with 8.2%.
According to PSA, Davao City also demonstrated strong economic output: it ranked fifth in its share of the 2024 National GDP, contributing 2.6% or P574.72 billion to the country’s economy.
On the other hand, leading the nation in total economic contribution is Quezon City with P1.33 trillion, followed by Makati City with P1.20 trillion, Manila City with P1.04 trillion, and Taguig City with P656.31 billion.
PSA stressed that the latest figures highlight Davao City’s continued role as a major economic driver in Mindanao and a key contributor to national development.
Meanwhile, Davao City’s pioneering move toward digital records management through the City Records Management System (CRMS) led by the City Archives and Records Office (CARO) has once again received national recognition.
This new accolade marks the city’s second major honor this year, following a special citation from the Development Academy of the Philippines in the 2025 Productivity Challenge, Paper Less: 1 Million Sheets of Paper Served, awarded on November 11, 2025.
The recognition highlights the city’s leadership in developing a digital system that drastically cuts paper consumption while boosting efficiency across government offices.
Earlier this year, CARO’s CRMS also received the Digital Governance Excellence Award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for improving local government operations.
CARO chief Mary Grace Nabong told the City Information Office that these awards validate the office’s efforts to replace manual processes with a digital system that enhances efficiency, promotes environmental sustainability, and reflects the city’s strong commitment to modernizing public service.
