Davao City’s Pasko Fiesta to highlight bayanihan spirit

The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) is placing the spotlight on bayanihan and Filipino traditions for the Filipino-themed Dan-ag Davao ug Pag-abli sa Pasko on November 27, 2025 at Rizal Park.

CTOO Administrative Officer Charlotte Parba said during Thursday’s I-Speak forum that this year’s celebration carries the theme “Paskong Dabawenyo, Paskong Pilipino,” emphasizing the communal spirit that defines Filipino Christmas.

“We are doing the Paskong Pinoy theme and among the icons this year, dili mawala ang parol. We’ll be seeing parol, torotot, and the nipa hut,” Parba said.

Parba explained at the heart of the official Pasko Fiesta logo is the nipa hut, which Parba said represents the sense of community, togetherness, and bayanihan that the city aims to celebrate and revive.

“So isa na sa atong gusto i-imbibe karon nga tema sa Pasko Fiesta,” she added.

She also noted that the city hopes to remind Dabawenyos of shared cultural roots through the festivities.

Parba shared that this year’s Paskong Pinoy theme offers a refreshing return to local traditions after years of more westernized concepts in previous celebrations.

She announced that preparations for the grand opening at Rizal Park are in full swing.

She said that as of November 20, banners with Pasko Fiesta elements already adorn the City Hall façade, and select décor from previous years—those that match the Filipino theme have been reinstalled.

She said that a 30-foot Christmas tree featuring Paskong Pinoy motifs will also rise at Quezon Park and will be lighted during the opening program.

Parba encouraged the public to participate and support the various Pasko Fiesta activities lined up throughout the Christmas season, all designed to rekindle the warmth, unity, and bayanihan spirit of a true Filipino Christmas.
