Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go renewed his call for inclusive and sustainable local development as he visited his hometown, Lupon, Davao Oriental, on Thursday to extend support to communities recovering from recent earthquakes.
In partnership with local officials, the senator and his Malasakit Team conducted an aid distribution benefiting more than 1,200 residents from vulnerable sectors, including women, persons with disabilities, farmers, and Indigenous Peoples.
The beneficiaries received shirts, bags, fans, vitamins, pens, and sports equipment, while select individuals were given bicycles, shoes, phones, and watches.
Go also lauded the continued financial aid from the national government for qualified quake-affected residents.
“Ang tulong na ito ay para sa mga kababayang hirap sa kita. Basta pro-poor at para sa taumbayang nangangailangan, susuportahan ko,” he said.
Go also emphasized that such efforts aim to cushion workers and farmers from economic challenges and natural disasters.
He said that as vice chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, he has supported infrastructure and health projects in Lupon, including road improvements and multi-purpose buildings.
As vice chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Go also encouraged residents to visit the Malasakit Center at Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City for medical assistance.
The senator, principal author of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 (RA 11463), noted that the program has already helped more than 17 million Filipinos through its 167 operational centers nationwide.
Go also reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots service and inclusive progress.
