About PHP495 million worth of farm-to-market road (FMR) projects are currently implemented across the Davao Region for this year, the regional office of the Department of Agriculture (DA-11) reported Wednesday.
Spanning 20.38 kilometers, the undertaking comprised 23 ongoing projects with three already completed.
During his report at the regional year-end assessment of FMR projects here, DA-11 Engr. Jumark Palmera stated that FY 2025 FMR projects are strategically distributed across the region.
He said there are four projects each in Davao City and Davao del Norte; two each in Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental; 11 in Davao de Oro; and three in Davao Oriental, focusing on key agricultural areas to improve market access for farmers.
The assessment also tackled project implementation updates, work accomplishments, and identified issues and concerns affecting FMR implementation.
The activity also included discussions on the overall status of FMR projects in the region based on the Project and Contract Management Application (PCMA), as well as updates on ABEMIS encoding to ensure accurate and timely project monitoring.
Meanwhile, DA-11 regional technical director for research and regulations Zabdiel Zacarias emphasized perseverance and continual improvements as essential in rural infrastructure projects, noting that challenges are part of growth.
“FMRs are not merely infrastructure projects but critical interventions that directly respond to the needs of farmers and rural communities,” he said.
Zacarias added that FMRs are concrete proof of their commitment, serving as a clear reminder that they need to keep doing more for the farmers and communities.
Officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways attended the year-end assessment. Both agencies ensured the efficient and quality implementation of FMR projects. (PNA)
