
Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte welcomed Ambassador Jing Quan of the People’s Republic of China to the Philippines, during a courtesy call at City Hall on Monday, marking the start of the envoy’s two-day visit to Davao City.
The visit forms part of Ambassador Quan’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between China and the Philippines, with particular focus on enhancing cooperation at the local government level and deepening ties with Chinese stakeholders in the city.
City Information Officer Harvey Lanticse said the meeting served as Ambassador Quan’s formal introduction to the city leadership following his recent designation as China’s top diplomat to the Philippines.
Lanticse noted that the ambassador conveyed his commitment to sustaining and expanding the partnership between Davao City and China.
“Ambassador Quan is visiting Davao City to formally introduce himself to the City Mayor and to express his commitment to further strengthening local-level cooperation for the mutual benefit of Dabawenyos and the Chinese community,” Lanticse told Edge Davao.
Lanticse added that discussions during the courtesy visit underscored the longstanding partnership between Davao City and China, particularly in tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges. He He added that the meeting reaffirmed both sides’ shared goal of promoting mutual growth, cooperation, and understanding at the local level.
