The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 (PDEA 11)-Seaport Interdiction Unit intercepted a large shipment of suspected marijuana and marijuana-infused products concealed within courier parcels during an interdiction operation at a logistics warehouse in Bunawan District, Davao City, on Thursday.
The operation was conducted at the Flash Express Warehouse in Purok 3, Barangay San Isidro, following intelligence that illegal drugs were being transported through courier services.
PDEA 11 said the interdiction was carried out in coordination with the National Bureau of Investigation–Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-SEMRO), the Davao City Police Office Bunawan Police Station, the Police Drug Enforcement Group–Special Operations Unit 11, the DCPO 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies, and the DCPO Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit.
Authorities discovered various forms of suspected marijuana hidden inside courier packages, including marijuana kush, marijuana bricks, rolled marijuana, and disposable vape pens containing suspected marijuana oil.
Recovered during the operation were 32 pieces of suspected marijuana kush valued at about P1.34 million; three marijuana bricks worth P366,000; several packs and rolled marijuana with a combined estimated value of more than P700,000; and numerous disposable vape pens containing marijuana oil under brand names such as “Whole Melt,” “Turn,” and “Packman.”
Authorities also seized large quantities of marijuana-infused vape products packed in cardboard boxes, with the total estimated value reaching several million pesos and six boxes of assorted packaging materials indicating the suspected use of courier logistics for distribution.
All seized drug and non-drug evidence were turned over to the PDEA 11 – Seaport Interdiction Unit for proper disposition and case build-up.
PDEA 11 stated that investigation is ongoing to identify the source and intended recipients of the parcels.
Authorities said the operation underscores the growing use of courier and logistics services in illegal drug trafficking and the continued efforts of law enforcement to monitor and intercept illicit shipments within the delivery network.
