The provincial government of Cotabato has ordered a thorough investigation following the fatal shooting of retired Police Chief Officer Elias N. Dandan and Raymund Bioy on Wednesday in Datu Montawal, Maguindanao del Sur.
She described the incident as “unacceptable and a clear threat to the peace and order of our community. It has no place in our society.”
Mendoza also portrayed Dandan as a well-respected law enforcement officer known for his long-standing service to the community.
She directed the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other relevant government agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
The shooting highlights ongoing security challenges in certain areas of Maguindanao del Sur, which have experienced sporadic acts of violence despite government efforts to maintain peace and order.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The provincial government of Cotabato pledged full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice for the victims and support for their families during this difficult time.
