The anti-drug operatives of the Ma-a Police Station arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized more than P7 million worth of suspected shabu in an early Thursday buy-bust operation in Barangay Ma-a, Davao City, carried out by the station’s Drug Enforcement Unit and the City Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 (PDEA 11).

Authorities identified the suspect only by the alias “Alex,” an alleged repeat offender, who was apprehended around 1:01 a.m. in Purok 28, Poblacion, Ma-a. The suspect is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Seized during the operation were two sachets of suspected shabu, including a buy-bust item worth P340,000 and another estimated at P6.8 million, bringing the total value to P7.14 million.

Authorities also recovered P50,000 in marked money, a backpack, a cellphone, a driver’s license, and a motorcycle.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said the suspect was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs to an undercover operative.

“Padayon ang among kampanya batok sa illegal nga droga. Kini nga operasyon nagpakita nga seryoso ang kapulisan sa pagdakop sa mga high-value individuals nga nagpadayon sa ilang ilegal nga kalihokan,” the DCPO stated.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation on Wednesday evening, operatives of PDEA 11, in coordination with the 1104th Regional Mobile Force Battalion, dismantled an alleged drug den in Sitio Patulangon, Barangay Zone 1, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Arrested during the operation was the alleged drug den maintainer, identified as alias “Kol,” who was caught selling suspected shabu worth P7,000 to an undercover operative.

Also apprehended were an alleged employee, alias “Jas,” and four other individuals identified as visitors aliases “Lang-lang,” “Mike,” “Moc-moc,” and “Renz.”

Authorities seized approximately 20 grams of suspected shabu valued at P140,000, along with drug paraphernalia and buy-bust money.

The PDEA 11 emphasized its continued crackdown on illegal drug activities in the region.

“Dili gyud mohunong ang PDEA sa atong kampanya batok sa ilegal nga droga. Ang pagbungkag sa drug den usa ka dakong lakang aron mapanalipdan ang komunidad batok sa kadaot nga dala niini,” the agency said.

All suspects are now in custody, with charges under Republic Act 9165 being prepared against them.
