Philippine Airlines (PAL) brought its newest flagship aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000, to Davao International Airport (DIA) on Thursday as part of a roadshow aimed at showcasing the airline’s latest long-haul aircraft to industry partners and the traveling public.
Media representatives, travel agents, influencers, and tourism stakeholders were invited to participate in a familiarization tour of the aircraft, allowing them to explore its modern cabin design and seating configuration.
The A350-1000, the first of its kind to operate in Southeast Asia, can accommodate up to 382 passengers, with 42 seats in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 316 in Economy Class, highlighting PAL’s focus on improving passenger comfort and long-haul efficiency.
“This is just a roadshow. This aircraft will be used mainly for international flights, particularly to North America, New York, to be specific,” said Paolo Diaz De Rivera, area head for Mindanao sales and services of Philippine Airlines in an interview.
He said the aircraft’s stop in Davao is part of PAL’s initiative to introduce the new aircraft to travel industry partners and the public.
“This is just for a roadshow for travel agents, media, and vloggers to showcase the aircraft, especially the seats in the Business Class,” De Rivera said.
After its Davao visit, the aircraft will continue its promotional tour in other key cities.
“The next leg will be in Cebu on March 12. We’re doing this to let the public know that we have this aircraft coming in. We have this delivery, I think, in December,” he added.
De Rivera also highlighted the aircraft’s passenger comfort features, noting that the cabin design offers more space compared to similar aircraft in its class.
“For comfort, we have slightly wider seats compared to our competitors, especially in Economy Class where you can recline more. The seat configuration is very spacious, and it is a state-of-the-art aircraft,” he said.
The A350-1000 is part of PAL’s fleet modernization program aimed at strengthening its long-haul network and enhancing the overall travel experience on international routes.
