The Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters is preparing a shortlist of candidates for the next full-fledged City Director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), according to Leon Victor Rosete, director of Police Regional Office 11.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Rosete said he has already submitted his own recommended candidate for the position.
Rosete said the final list of nominees will still undergo deliberation at the PNP national headquarters before any appointment is finalized.
Rosete explained that after the internal review, the shortlisted names will be forwarded to the Office of the City Mayor of Davao, which will then select who will officially assume the role of DCPO City Director.
“The national headquarters will give the list. I gave my recommendation and it will be deliberated by the national headquarters,” Rosete told members of the media.
The position remains in transition following a halted leadership change earlier this year.
Col. Mannan Muarip, who is currently serving as acting DCPO City Director, was supposed to be replaced by Peter Madria on January 23, 2026.
However, the planned turnover ceremony did not proceed, allowing Muarip to remain in his post.
At the time, the city government of Davao was reportedly not consulted regarding the proposed leadership change.
