PRO 11 assures public of Davao Region’s safety after Australian travel advisory

The Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) assured residents and visitors that Davao Region remains peaceful and secure despite a travel advisory issued by the Australian Government warning of possible terrorist attacks in some parts of Mindanao.

The Australian Embassy has reiterated on Wednesday its travel advisory for the Philippines, warning that terrorist attacks may occur and urging Australians to reconsider travel to eastern Mindanao, except for Camiguin, Dinagat, and Siargao Islands. The advisory also cautioned against traveling to other high-risk areas in Mindanao due to ongoing security threats.

In response, PRO 11 said there is currently no direct threat being monitored in the Davao Region and emphasized that authorities continue to closely monitor the peace and order situation.

The regional police office said it remains in close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), local government units, and other partner agencies to ensure public safety.

PRO 11 Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete said police presence has been strengthened in transportation hubs, business establishments, tourist destinations, and other public areas across the region.

Rosete added that the police force remains fully alert and prepared to respond to any security concern.

“We want to assure everyone that the Davao Region remains peaceful and that your police force continues to work 24/7 to keep our communities safe. We encourage the public to stay vigilant, cooperate with us, and immediately report any suspicious activity so we can continue preserving the peace and security of our region,” Rosete said.

PRO 11 added that while travel advisories issued by foreign governments are treated seriously, these are precautionary measures intended for their citizens and do not necessarily reflect an immediate threat in the region.
