VP Sara to PMA graduates: Defend PH sovereignty, uphold integrity

Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday urged graduates of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 2026 to uphold integrity, courage, and patriotism as they begin their service to the country.

In a video message, Duterte called on the new officers to defend the nation’s sovereignty and remain steadfast in protecting the liberties of Filipinos despite challenges they may face in the line of duty.

“Be the bearers of our nation’s pride, honor, and dignity. I urge you to personify integrity and courage at all times,” she said. “Stand firm against all threats to our sovereignty and our liberties. Do not waver, even in the face of the most difficult challenges.”

The vice president described the cadets’ graduation as the culmination of years of discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance, urging them to apply the values and training instilled by the academy throughout their military careers.

“May your service be a testament to your determination to protect our country and uphold the welfare of every Filipino,” Duterte added.

Her remarks came amid renewed discussions on national sovereignty following calls from Ronald dela Rosa for fellow PMA alumni to defend the country’s independence in light of the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court over the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign.
